Lobster Camp
Bully Netting and Free-Diving for Lobster in the Florida Keys
This camp is built on the foundation of our regular programs, but with a special twist. Campers still spend three days exploring the backcountry and one day offshore fishing, but these weeks also include an unforgettable day of lobstering.
We launched this camp in 2021 after an overwhelming demand from our campers—and it quickly became our most sought-after experiences. For divers, lobster season in the Florida Keys is the ultimate adventure, sitting at the very top of any bucket list. Lobster diving is similar to spearfishing, but instead of a spear, divers use a net to catch these prized crustaceans, combining skill, patience, and a bit of strategy.
Florida’s lobster season is legendary—and for good reason. The water is crystal-clear, making it easy to spot hiding lobsters among the reef and rocks. The activity offers a full-body workout, a thrilling challenge, and, of course, the reward of catching fresh, delicious lobster. Many lobsters inhabit shallow waters, making this adventure accessible to divers of all skill levels while providing the perfect environment to learn, practice, and refine underwater techniques.
Our camp takes place during the two-day spiny lobster sport season—the last Wednesday and Thursday in July each year—as well as during the regular lobster season which opens on August 6th each year.. Campers experience the excitement of navigating the reef, spotting the subtle movements that reveal a lobster’s hiding spot, and working with expert guides to safely capture their catch. Along the way, they build confidence, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for the Keys’ unique marine ecosystem.
Beyond the thrill of the hunt, this camp creates memories that last a lifetime: the exhilaration of surfacing with a lobster in hand, the laughter shared with fellow campers, and the pride of preparing and tasting a fresh catch. Each day is a mix of adventure, learning, and fun—a true Keys experience that goes far beyond a typical fishing or diving trip.
